Since most of us are spending more time at home cuddling our furry friends, we are also spending a lot more time online. In fact, according to market research by SimilarWeb and Apptopia, there has been a significant increase in social media usage since the COVID-19 outbreak.
This gives us the opportunity to really take advantage of social media to connect with our customers, especially in these trying times. Keep in mind that considering the impact of COVID-19, both financially and mentally, it is important to take a sensitive approach when posting on social media.
With that in mind, here are some ideas to boost your customer relationships whilst at home:
Live Videos
As we are all spending more time online anyways, live videos are a great way to engage with your customers. Live videos can cover anything exciting happening in your business or industry. It can even be a webinar teaching you how to film from home, or even a Live Q&A with the executives.
Company Culture
Being stuck at home doesn’t mean we’ve cut out communication altogether. We are staying connected in other ways, whether that be via Zoom or some other digital tool.
Not only that, but we are also seeing days that are a little different than usual – whether that means taking a walk after work to make up for the exercise we’d usually get walking to and from public transport or cooking lunch at home instead of getting take away.
This can be a great way to capture and share through a social video. It can really humanise your brand and bring about some genuine sentiment.
Animated Videos
Animated content is another fun way to engage with your audience on social media. These types of videos are great for illustrating ideas in a lighthearted and timeless way.
Some examples include how-to videos that showcase a step-by-step process of how to use your product or service, or a motion graphic video to illustrate big ideas and interesting stats.
Since animated videos are made remotely, you can really get creative with this one!
Tell stories
We all are a sucker for a good story, and especially in a time like this, we could all do with a bit of cheering up. If you have a funny or inspiring story about your company or an employee, filming a short video and narrating this, is another great way to show the ‘human’ side of your brand and bring a little light into this world.
Self V Lite
To make filming from home easier for you, we offer Self V Lite kits that allow you to shoot professional videos from home – all on your phone. It’s easy – you shoot, we edit and return it to you in as little as 24 hours. More on that here.
Regardless of what video idea you decide to go with, it’s important to remember that during this time we are all in this together.
Creating social content that humanises your brand and is helpful to your consumers, can help you connect with your customers.
